Finding your motivation

I'm not sure how easy it is for everyone to come by things that motivate them but for me, motivation comes from hearing others stories.

A co-worker once brought my attention to a TedX story which features the author behind the website and (now books) called 1000 awesome things.

This story takes you through the author's experiences and really lets you look into his failures and triumphs throughout life, which truly leave a deep impression on you, luckily ending on a hopeful note.

If you have not heard of it, i highly recommend it. It basically reminds us of the little things in life that we often take for granted or just bypass because we are often too busy complaining about our other problems.

The author details the awesome things in our life to serve as a reminder to ourselves that simple everyday tasks or routines can be awesome and should not be overlooked but should put a smile on our face, which i guess to many of his millions of viewers that's exactly what it does. It certainly did for me and that's why i decided to share his speech with you too.

A website and an idea such as this one reminds me that it really is the little and simple things, those smaller moments of happiness, in between the bigger life events that make it complete.

How to make decisions

Indecisive? Don't worry you are not the only one. Many of us fall victim to the lack of certainty when concerning various aspects of our lives. Whether it is to pick a life partner, choose a career path or order lunch, it sometimes feels like an overwhelming abundance of choice that results in our inability to pick just one of the options. Below are my tips for getting you through the confusion: 1)    Weigh up how you would feel about this decision if you were a parent or an older version of yourself. 2)    Would you be proud to admit that you did it? If the answer is yes, then go ahead with your plan. 3)    What do the hoards say and what do your closest friends say? Try to blur out the masses and listen to those that know you best. They will steer you in the right direction.

Making mistakes is natural

When i read this quote as part of a promotional email this morning, it really resonated with me. I feel that a lot of us want to take steps in life that are perfectly planned, executed and which always deliver the desired result. As many will have experienced, this wishful thinking doesn't always occur but i think the quote below explains exactly why it's ok to make mistakes and in fact that mistakes are what make up our lives in the first place! "A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing". - George Bernard Shaw
